The Umbu trees have multiple trunks, and seem have roots dangling from the branches.

We spent a couple of weeks cruising around the Canary Islands.
Gran Canaria is very developed with masses of hotels, condos etc.  We did not particularly like it, although it was fun to be in Las Palmas along with the ARC 2016 fleet, where we met several friends.
We liked Tenerife much better.
Photo shows us in one of the many sidewalk cafés in Santa Cruz.
We rented cars in

The volcano El Tiede is the highest point in the Canaries.  We had hoped to take the cable car up then hike around.  However, it was closed due to freezing rain.  Hard to imagine when we were in sub tropical heat, but El Tiede is nearly 4000m high.  It looked good from below.

The smaller Canary Islands are less developed than Gran Canaria, and more interesting.  We stopped in La Gomera for a few days.
Hiking was good, and the roads interesting.
