2015   Treshnish Islands

Home           Sailing home page    2015 Home page         This page updated 15 December 2015

The Treshnish Islands are uninhabited, but are favoured by birds in the breeding season, and provide a popular fair-weather anchorage for yachts.
The puffins always have either a few fish, or none at all in their beaks.  We have never seen a puffin with a single fish.
Puffins nest in secure burrows, often after chasing the resident rabbits out.  The guillemots seem happy hatching t their eggs on bare rock, with all their friends close by.  The cormorant on the right screamed blue murder at us, and periodically picked up one of the sticks from his nest and shook it at us.
