Once in Inverness, the weather turned summery,
although there was still snow n the surrounding hills in June, which is
extremely unusual. Michael, Ross and Scott Tyler joined us for a while. They are good company, and of course a help for going through the locks. The canal was originally built 200 years ago with the usual controversy and gross expenditure of public money, for reasons that were obsolete by the time it was finished. Today, it is a great tourist attraction and useful for fishing boats and yachts. |

We sailed through some of
the lochs which make up much of the "canal's" length, but were unable
to get a photograph of the monster while sailing through Loch Ness (Double click to see full size, then use the back button on your browser to return here) Sailing past Ben Nevis, we were surprised to see how much winter snow remained in the warm June weather |
