We had planed to stop in Nye Alesund
after enjoying the Lillehookbreen area, but the weather was
so nice that we continued all tight to Longyearbyen, with sunshine all the

We even had an un-forecast
favourable wind for most of the way, to accompany the midnight sun. The next night was 100% blue sky too, which was far too rare in the all-too-frequent overcast. |

![]() The whole night was behind the shelter of Prince Karls Forland, so the normal Atlantic swell was absent. |
