This page is a start at 2010 web
site for McCubbin family We had Christmas 2009 at home with as many of the family as were in Quebec for the holidays. Christmas was white, with more snow to follow. This picture of our house was taken early January 2010. (Double click any picture to see full size, then use the back button on your browser to return here) |

In January, Helen and Neil joined Denis and Pam
Moonan on their boat in the San Blas
Islands of Panama. The islands are only about 100 miles East of the modern city of Panama and the Panama Canal, but life there much closer to the 19th century than the 21st. This was our second visit (photos from 2009 are here) |

In April Neil went to France to get Milvina
ready for sailing. Michael and Derek came over a bit later as
university finished, and sailed to the Channel Islands, and on across the
English Channel, up the
Irish Sea to
South West Scotland. Michael left from Guernsey to start articling (a one year legal apprenticeship necessary to become a member of the bar) in Vancouver. Derek left from from Holyhead, at the NW corner of Wales. Helen joined Milvina in Holyhead. En route to Scotland, we stopped for nearly a week on the Isle of Man, in the middle of the Irish Sea. |

In Scotland our cruising became tortuous, as we
had planned on spending the whole summer there, and had a variety of
friends on board, forcing schedules to meet them. We sailed the following sectors as shown on the adjacent map. SW Scotland from Portpatrick to Oban, in red Loch Linnhe, North of Oban to Fort William, also in red Oban to Loch Nevis, Skye, Rum and back to Oban in blue Clyde Cruising Club Centennial Cruise in black Western Mull in green Oban up to Sheildaig with several stops in orange Finally back to the Clyde to haul out for the winter at Roseneath in the Gareloch, about 25 miles NW of Glasgow. |
